About Us

We believe in building up the basics. Our sessions focus on building strength, endurance, and flexibility.

Our sessions are designed to meet you where you are at. We hope to cultivate a relationship with movement that you can carry throughout your life. That means that we are looking for the appropriate intensity, modifications, and skills for every client. Every body is different, and everyone has different goals. Whether your goal is to carry your groceries up your walk up, to touch your toes, to lift your nephew, or to dance the night away, we are looking to support you.

We do not focus on di*ts or weight l*ss. We practice body neutrality, which is a mindset that de-centers the physical appearance and function and, instead, focuses on action and intellectual life. For example, instead of training to look a certain way for vacation, we would think about building the stamina to swim in the ocean or we would focus on the practice of presence movement so that you can stay present on the vacation. Instead of focusing on “fixing” a body part that isn’t functioning “properly” (say, a wrist that is giving you trouble), we would explore ways of moving that allow that body part to rest.

We are big believers in modifications. Everyone needs them! We are not robots, and we are here to help you understand your body’s movement language. We hope that our sessions help you move longer and better over time. We do not design workouts that will degrade your joints or cause you pain in the long term.

Our sessions include functional exercises. Functional exercise means movements that mimic daily human activity such as squats, lunges, planks, push movements, pull movements, core stabilizations, balance, mobility work, and stretching.

We see IN PERSON clients on the West Side of Manhattan (if you are outside this range, please contact us anyway—we are always looking to accommodate), and we see VIRTUAL clients anywhere!

“Now and then it's good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy.”
